![]() ![]() Having been made into a film (Stormbreaker) in 2006, the boy spy is now gracing the small screen in the new Alex Rider TV series on Amazon Prime. Anthony Horowitz’s books have been described as “the not-so-secret weapon to get boys reading” thanks to the fast-paced plots, full of twists and cliff-hangers. Horowitz is a master of action and crime, writing for both adults and children, including new James Bond and Sherlock Holmes novels as well as numerous TV episodes and films. Written by bestselling British author Anthony Horowitz, the Alex Rider series has sold over 19 million copies worldwide and continues to thrill readers almost 20 years after its release. The explosive action series aimed at 9-12 year olds was first published in 2000 and there are now ten books in the series as well as a prequel Russian Roulette and various graphic novel editions. I would even caution younger teens, but it depends on the person. The world’s only teen spy, Alex Rider, is one of the most popular book characters for young readers. There are some rather graphic descriptions of violence, gore, and pain in it that were disturbing even to me as an adult. And I was also very disappointed in the movie adaption of the first book, Stormbreaker.Īnother thing that I would like to mention is that this should not ever be classified as a children's book at all. I'm really hoping that some day soon someone will make a TV series out of these, because it's hard to capture every epic moment in a movie due to limited length. I was sort of expecting this one to be a bit more unique than it was (I was hoping to see every single executive member of Scorpia dead by Alex's hand or some other ironic twist of fate), but it was still very enjoyable and I found it quite difficult to pull myself away from it. Lots of interesting plot twists and foreshadowing that was just enough not to make it too predictable. Scorpia Rising is an amazing book chock full of action and suspense. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Crocodile Tears had not actually been the final installment. ![]() I'm now 22 and I never lost interest in it, not for a single moment. I began reading this series when I was just fifteen. ![]()
